Our FAQ
I have heard bad things about moving companies. How is your company different?
The rumours you have heard about moving companies holding belongings ransom, extorting customers for extra cash, and even charging more than double the estimate are all true. Misleading pricing, hidden fees, and non-binding estimates are just a few of the reasons Canadian moving companies have a bad reputation. At Relocation Engineers, our aim is to avoid these types of experiences for our clients by using a guaranteed pricing model that we call peace-of-mind pricing. Because we don’t bill by time or weight, but by scope of work, we are able to provide you with a binding quote that doesn’t change between the start of and the end of your moving service.
How can Relocation Engineers know how much my move will cost?
Relocation Engineers may be a newer company but our owners are not new to the industry. Having worked under the umbrella of Canada’s leaders in Moving, Home Services, and Storage for over 15 years, it is estimated that we have overseen just over 30,000 moves. It is this invaluable experience that allows us the skill and art of being able to price our services using a guaranteed pricing model. All moving services that use our peace-of-mind pricing structure are assessed in person by our team or by video call (when the service is starting out of town or overseas). The full scope of work will be reviewed, we will assign your crew, and provide a binding quote. Once your estimate is accepted, your price will not change unless there is a significant change to the scope of work.
Is there a scenario where the price could change?
As with any service agreement, it’s possible that your needs could change before the start of your service. Adding additional items that require the use of additional crew members, larger or additional service vehicles, or significant changes in the time it takes to complete your service (such as a key wait), could change the cost of your service. These types of changes are always discussed BEFORE the start of the service. We will not change the cost of your service over minor details like forgetting to disclose the additional coffee table in the garage.
What if we get a lesser quote from another company?
It is likely you will receive quotes for less than what you are quoted by Relocation Engineers. It is however important to understand that any estimate that is not guaranteed is subject to change. If the price sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
Do you have any additional fees?
No. Moving materials that are needed to complete your service such as the use of mattress bags, blankets, shrink wrap, tape and wardrobe boxes are included in the cost of your service. When using Relocation Engineers for a packing service, the cost of your service will include all of the packing supplies such as boxes, packing paper, packing peanuts, tape, etc. We do not charge extra for stairs, heavy items such as pianos, artwork, kilometres, or bad jokes.
What happens if something gets damaged?
While our experienced Movers are always as careful as possible with your possessions, from time to time accidents can happen. Relocation Engineers will always stand behind our service and product. We do not deal with the industry norm of .60 cents per pound. Instead we will repair, replace or reimburse (The three R’s) to your satisfaction.

What is piece of mind pricing?
Often, moving companies will lowball you to get your business and then the final bill doubles, triples and sometimes quadruples. We want to simplify moving for you, so we have created an innovative way to price our projects. What your quoted is exactly what you’ll pay at the end. There are no surprises or hidden fees, we don’t even add a credit card processing fee.
Where do you find your movers?
A lot of moving companies, even the big ones, will hire day labour or subcontract out their work. At Relocation Engineers, we believe that quality is the key ingredient to having a successful and long-standing Moving company. We don’t hire day labour or subcontract out any of our work. Our employees are our employees and in fact, many of them have been with us for many years.
